How could i not read it!, 31 Mar 2006
I bought this book (with the dark and the key) about 6-8 months and wanted a book to read, so i went to my small libary and picked out the Named, read the first paragraphs and then finished the book in two days! This book is amasing and it really makes you want to be part of it! Moreover there is also a bit of martial arts (kartae, although not mentioned much), for those in the romantic part, it is the small as its the first part. And its amazing how they mix real life with magic.
great battle scens and doesnt go on hours explaing scenery!

I couldn't stop reading this book!, 31 May 2002

This review is from: The Named (Paperback)
I loved this book. I had read "old magic" before, but "The Named" is miles better. It mixes everything from Action, Adventure, mystery, romance and history: the result? A fantstic unmissable novel, by a very talented author. The basic story is about a secret group called The guard, who go back in time to try and prevent the evil Order of Chaos from changing the past and altering the present for their gain. The main characters are Nathan and Isabel, who have to keep there adventurous life secret while still going to school and trying to lead a normal life. This book is full of twists and an amazing, well told story. READ THIS BOOK!!! You'll love it, guaranteed.

This review is from: The Named (Paperback)
I feel that Bloomsbury books always give the covers of their books the wrong sort of impression to the buyer of the book.
I think that the cover of 'The Named' looks like a scary horror story which it isn't at all.
The story is based around two main characters - Ethan and Isobel who are both Named. This means that they travel back in time to make sure that The order of chaos doesn't change history with drastic results in their favour.
Isobel is an appretice as she has only just become a member and Ethan only has a short amount of time to train her for her first mission. If Ethan manages to train Isobel in time he will recieve the highest promotion, he will recieve his wings.
This book has many twists and turns - in that way it is similar to the HArry Potter books as at the beginning the prologue doesn't really make sense and then by the end it all falls together and makes sense.
The Named has everything a good book should have, not only do you get lost completely in it but it has action, mystery, a sprinkling of romance and adventure.
It is also a very easy read. I will read this book over and over again, i just hope that there is a sequel.
