2.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm Not Great, 10 Nov 2005
    By A Customer
Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This is a board game with DVD video clips. Playing the game is complicated. Some of the questions are really difficult and others are really stupid. First time I played this game three of the first four videos were by Duran Duran. They were different songs but couldn't they have used other bands from the 80s??? Having played the game a bit it seems as if all the videos on the DVD are from the same 5 or so bands. They're all good bands but it gets really boring after you've played the game a few times.

This game is ok, there doesn't seem to be much on the DVD and I'm not crazy about the board game - it just isn't that much fun. Overall I don't think this was good value for money and it's pretty disappointing.

    4.0 out of 5 stars A treat for 80's music fans, 1 Jul 2006
By P. DATTA "Pritthijit Datta" (Stockton on Tees, Teesside) - See all my reviews

Name that Tune- DVD is a real treat for anyone who loves 80's music like myself. Remember the good old days of the 80's, the doc martins, funny hair cuts, the stylish fashion and big bands such as Duran Duran, Culture Club, Human League and so on. The memories the 80;s decade brings back for me as child are precious and endless. I can go on about it and write an essay about it.

The Name that Tune- DVD Game test your knowledge of 80;s music through trivia quiz questions and observing video clips. Are you a true 80's music fan like myself? An enjoyable game to play in social events such as parties or get togathers. When you watch the video clips, you will look back and kind of laugh at the funny hairstyles and typical 80's technology. It is amazing how things have progressed today, with digital technology pioneered in this century.

Like any other board games, it is a game that you will gradually get bored with as you have mastered all the trivia questions correctly and you can identify the video clips by memory rather than knowledge. My suggestion when you play this game, is to reduce the frequency of gameplay, which will increase gap periods. So when you play the game next time, you have a new set of trivia questions and video clips.

Overall, a real treat for 80;s music fans, despite it flaws as a board game which I have pointed out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great...if you like Queen, Roxette and Wa Wa Nee!!, 3 Sep 2006
By Mr. Paul Johnston "miseryguts" (Dunfermline, Fife) - See all my reviews

I was really looking forward to this playing this game but was rather disappointed. We played it twice (best of three!) and even in those two games there was way too much Queen, Roxette and Wham/George Michael. There was also two bands I had never heard of - namely, Wa Wa Nee and Information Society!

It seems that Wa Wa Nee were an Aussie pop band who only had 1 US hit and nothing in the UK. (Did they even release anything over here?) How on earth is anyone supposed to know bands like that? Information Society and Loverboy (big in the US) did nothing in the UK and it was pointless including them on this DVD.

The game itself is good, doesn't take too long to play and can be fun but the content of the DVD leaves a lot to be desired.
