Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

MUSASHI delivers an expressive visual odyssey thanks to dazzling "manga shading" techniques. Adorable characters and lush environments come to life in Japanese comic-book style.

The journey begins when Princess Mycella summons Musashi across space and time to save her people from danger. As a stranger in a new world, Musashi finds intrigue and adventure as he hones his battle skills to defeat a sinister nemesis.

All-new battle systems contribute to non-stop action. Musashi can focus his energy to learn his opponents' techniques, allowing him to give enemies a taste of their own medicine. And this time Musashi can not only pick up allies and enemies but also wield them in combat to devastating effect.

Fun:
Musashi is a samurai game like no other (well there isn't that many samurai games, but you get the picture). The cel-shaded graphics add a nice effect and make the game feel more japanese. I love some of the original ideas in it. The places you explore are all set on a giant fish thing, which looks stunning as it flies through the air. But what makes the game come into its own is the battle system.. Although the locking on system can be annoying, the battle system is brilliant. You can learn abilities off opponent by doing a certain combo. It is a lot like kingdom hearts. Which isn't a bad thing. I love it.

Fun:
I came across this game in a sale for twenty notes and picked it up thinking it looked alright and alright it was not amazing but not bad either.

The basic story is you (Musashi) are a trainee samurai transported to a distant land to aid its inhabitants summoned by its princess in training who prompty gets herself kidnapped. You must gain the five swords to free the world, kill the evil overlord and make sure the Tv licence is paid on time etc.

To those of you who have played games like onimusha there isnt much different here, the graphics are in the manga style and occasionally some excellent effects can be seen such as when the character is obscured by smoke or you kill a large number of enemies at once (this happens a lot!)As you progress through the game you gain more powerful swords and abilities to inflict damage on all those unfortunate henchmen who get in the way.

The story line is very linear, there is an initial training level followed by a series of missions with a giant whale/turtle/plane effort as your home base. You can only unlock the next stage once you have completed all the missions and althogh you are required to return to levels later it is usually to rescue the bloody princess again!

The game does have some nice touches, the people who live on board the ship have been kidnapped and by freeing them you gain access to new shops and services, there is a battle arena in which you can win prizes and a card collecting sub game although the only reward for this is a title.

In short although i gave the game an initial hammering i had lost interest by the final level and had given up in order to play onimusha instead. I would advise giving the game a go should you see it cheap but not worth its full RRP.
