Not all of the ghosts and locations will be recognisable from the movie |
Some ghosts need to be destroyed--not caught |
Getting slimed is all part of the fun when you’re a Ghostbuster |
The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is back for revenge |
The game features an all new storyline but still manages to replicate most of the major scenes from the films, including the hotel-room capture of New York library ghost, Slimer, and the attack of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Almost all of the original cast are involved, including all four Ghostbusters, the mayor, and even Walter Peck.
The game itself is mission based and has you catching ghosts with your proton packs and then manoeuvring them into a ghost trap--just like the movie. Whether that’s enough to fill a whole game isn’t clear, but the funny dialogue and celebrity voiceovers should help paper over any cracks.
Key FeaturesPenned by original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbusters: The Video Game brings members of the original cast together for the first time in 20 years. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story set two years after Ghostbusters II, with Manhattan once again overrun by ghosts and supernatural forces. Players will have the chance to chase, attack, and catch ghosts in a funny and frightening battle to save New York from its latest supernatural plague.

I had been putting off buying this for some time as I am a massive fan of the films and feared this would be a massive disappointment.
I was right. The storyline is good and having the real voices and movie feel is very enjoyable however the cumbersome control system and sheer effort involved to catch a ghost actually makes you dread finding them - which as it is the main goal of the entire game puts quite a dampener on things. If you find this in a bargain sale go for it as the storyline is worth it - however prepare to gnash your teeth and grow angry with the controls.

If you have ever seen the movie and liked it then you are gonna love this game!
I must admit ive always wanted to be a ghostbuster after I saw the movie for the first time and there was no going back after that! Hearing the proton pack buzz into life in this game is worth the money in itself! The story is a very compelling and you get heavily involved in whats going on! It can be slow at times when its portraying the story but with original voices from the cast this is a must have for anyone who saw the movie and liked it!!!

Although the game isn't perfect, it's worth it for the story and the voice acting. Wrangling Ghosts can be both rewarding and frustrating at times, and sometimes the combat can be a bit confusing once more than a few spectres get in on the action. Graphics are good and it's overall well polished.
