4.0 out of 5 stars Good game bad campaign 8 Nov 2009
By Mr Mouw
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This game is great. 40 characters that you dont need to bother to unlock which is great. But also urges you to play with upgradable customizations which is really good fun.
But the bad bits of the game. Well there's not really any easy way of saying this but the 3D campaign thing is crap! Ok maybe crap is a bit harsh, but its just really annoying small stages which are just straight roads with a couple of right angle corners with a bunch of weak enemies and a boss at the end. The story doesn't really make any sense what so ever. But the arcade, survival and team modes are all great fun, but to get the best customizations you need to play the campaign but in the campaign you dont start with all the characters so if your favorite character is for example Kazuya Mishima, you have play most of the campaign before you get any items for him! Really annoying. But thats the only bad bit the combat is amazing awesome 10-hit combos crazy characters and great scenery and music. Great with a friend. Reminded me when i was 10 on my ps1 playing tekken 2. Great graphics, great combat, great game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't meet my expectations 19 Mar 2010
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I would call myself a veteran of the series, since I have been playing Tekken since the first installment (tekken 1) and have played all the sequels competitively with skilled players ever since. Tekken has always been evolving and getting better with each game (Tekken 4 being an exception but nonetheless a very enjoyable game). Tekken 3 has probably been the best in the series (for its time), with Tekken 5 being a close second best.

As many are aware, the latest arcade version of Tekken 5 (called Dark Resurrection) was ported to the PS3 in form of a PSN downloadable game. The game was fantastic, as it had essentially the same wonderful game-play of T5, fast load times plus very sharp 1080P graphics (it is one of the very few PS3 games up to even now that is rendered in 1080P).

After seeing this great port on the PS3, one could only expect better features from the next Tekken. Unfortunately, it is not the case.
I know that it is proper to list the Pros first and then the cons, but in this case I want to list the flaws first because although the game has many strengths, the few flaws prevent me from being able to appreciate and enjoy its many qualities. Here we Go:

CONS:
THE GRAPHICS!: Tekken has always had top notch graphics. Specially the PS3 port of T5 raised my expectations, but Tekken 6 is just NOT as SHARP & DETAILED as it should be. Many sources say that it's not even 720P and its graphics are sub-HD. There is an option to turn off motion blur but that still doesn't help and disappoints me from a visual perspective.
Who cares if there is a lot of objects moving in the background or if there is cool lighting here & there when the main characters do not even look as sharp as the previous game!

1.0 out of 5 stars Been there, done that.. don't buy the T-shirt! 29 Nov 2009
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I've been a Tekken-fan since the very beginning. All the way back to Playstation 1, I spent many nights on learning the moves, pressing the sequences to make a couple of cool characters perform 10-combo moves etc.

In the beginning, Tekken was a new way of creating a fighting game. As has been pointed out by others, it certainly took over what Street Fighter had fulfilled on the SEGA MegaDrive II console. Only, this was to an extend "better". Buttonlayout was more simple, and 2- or 3- combo moves absolutely possible without breaking your thumb trying to perform what in SF would be thought more of as physical exersize than actually having fun.

So where did Tekken go ? Well, up the ladder, for many years - finally.. on the PS2, we reached "Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection", which in my opinion was (and still is) one of the best Tekken games ever made. Needless to say - my expectations to yet another sequel have been very high.

Now I've recived the game.. I've been wondering when I should try it out, and tonight was my choice. Though it's been a while since I've kicked some serious B-hind with Tekken 5, an old dog may be hard to teach new tricks, but certainly remembers his old ones very well. Thus, to me - it's been a pleasure to experience over the years, that most of the moves with the different characters in question have been preserved. In this way, when you bought a new Tekken title, it wouldn't force you to practice everything all over again from the very start.

To test the game, I thought that "Offline Arcade Mode" would be a great start. But oh boy what a disappointment I was in for. I'll try and keep my critisism at a polite level - so please have me excused if you disagree or think I'm being too harsh.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ruined by a bad boss 1 Nov 2009
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Standard Edition
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This game is fun and the graphics are superb. The reason I only gave it three stars is the awful end boss Azazel. WHO in their right mind makes a giant lizard demon that looks like it is made out of an iceberg illuminated by Christmas tree lights.
In arena mode I make it to Azazel without losing a single round but he seems close to unbeatable. It would have been better to strike a balance and make the journey to the end harder and the end boss less frustrating and less horrible to look at. Its not scary in the slightest its just poorly done and way too hard compared to the fights to get there.
The story mode is good fun. There are unlockables for PS HOME and its pretty good overall. Shame about Azazel. The should bury the programmer that thought of him up to his waist in sand. HEAD FIRST.
A great game ruined by some simple flaws.
