Product Description

Review

'Every page turns the conventional view of the fashion landscape upside down, gives it a good shake and (charmingly) disposes the offending idea in the nearest trash can. Instead we are offered just about the most inspiring alternative models imaginable. And this is genuinely liberating.' From the foreword by Lucy Siegle and Livia Firth

Product Description

Released to coincide with London Fashion Week, Safia Minney - the founder of People Tree - the pioneers in fair trade fashion - presents a guide to a more ethical, diverse and creative approach to the fabulous world of style and fashion which has a history of exploitation on many levels. Presented as a highly visual title, this perfectly timed release includes stunning photography, interviews with key player who are revolutionalising fashion and examples of how people are doing things differently to create a more ethical fashion world.

This book gives a fascinating insight into the functioning and malfunctioning of the fashion industry and has suggestions for ways of making it more ethical and satisfying for many of those involved, from producers to consumers. The use of short interviews with a wide variety of people from all parts of the fashion chain and the many beautiful images throughout make it a pleasure to dip into. What the book has to say is worth thinking about for those in the fashion industry and the man/woman in the street who wears the clothes. This book is very visually pleasing while stimulating thought on an important matter - a campaigning coffee-table book!

What an eye opener 5 Dec 2011

Format:Paperback
A great insight into the lives of the people who design and produce fair trade clothes. I really do not want to wear anything that has been made at the expensive of people working in sweat shops, living in slumps and putting children into child labour. Thank you Safia for this fantastic book- a highly informative and far reaching read.
