5.0 out of 5 stars Rock for your Soul 7 Mar 2012
By Randy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Don't know what the other reviewer is talking about as far as Mitch being "racist." He probably hasn't even listened to this excellent collection of originals from one of the greatest voices in rock history. I'm guessing he merely saw the song title "Ain't Nobody White" and assumed from there. "Ain't Nobody White" was, in fact a response to a comment Ray Charles made that no white person can sing the blues, which is itself a racist comment. Other standouts include "War" which is more social commentary than anti-war, "Corporate Song" about greed and influence peddling in Washington (30 years ahead of the current anti-big money movement) and "I Got Mine" about the vagaries of fame,
5.0 out of 5 stars Great MITCH RYDER album! 5 Mar 2014
By L.N.H. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Released in 1980 and a winner then and now! I had the good fortune to see Mitch Ryder and his band live at a club, off Yonge St., N. in Toronto play many songs from this album and the other German releases. The word Amazing does not do justice to the music or performance. A great album from the beginning to the end. Definitely a take to a deserted island album.

"Mitch Ryder is a racist" What was the poster drinking, smoking or worse doing when they posted?
4.0 out of 5 stars Part II if his How I spent my vacation album... 29 Sep 2013
By MikeGeorge - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This was Mitch Ryder's 2nd offering after his Legendary Vacation album...got rave reviews but no air play in the US...However, this was the catalyst for his European career of 30 plus years, starting off with my favorite, Ain't nobody white, with a bluesy back beat, Mitch sings of the frustration a white artist who embraced the African American roots music of the blues and exposes the ignorance of the great "Ray Charles", "He must be too blind to see". Other stand outs on this politically driven piece of work are WAR, True love (Both still a part of his sets today), Corporate song and I got mine....Future looks bright is a nice song to mention for it's arrangement as well as it's political relativity today. How I spent my Vacation was the beginning with this LP , Naked but Not Dead, to follow securing the resurrection of one of the most unique, powerful and pleasing voices, combined with a new and unsung song writing ability in the crazed Pop oriented industry and ....for that alone this CD is worth it and a must for collectors.
Special Note: the Cover art is Mitch Ryder's art work as well...He wanted to be true to his promise to himself back in the days of the Detroit Wheels...This time he's in charge..

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible 24 April 2008
By Mark Hanson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
What happened??? Mitch used to be great. This disc shows him as self indulgent racist. His is no longer relevant. Don't waste your money.
