Nahoo can be best described as a blend of Scottish folk and contemporary pop. As with most music I suspect, it's an acquired taste, and you'll probably quickly find that you either love it or hate it.
The music is vary varied throughout the album with familiar beats constantly drifting in and out as it plays. One minute it's Scottish folk, the next film music, the next up tempo the and so on, but it all is blended so that it flows together as an album.
I've also listened to Nahoo and Nahoo3, which are also very good, and I'm glad to have in my collection but I think Nahoo Too is the best album out of the three.
Particular favourties are 'North', ' Nahoo Reprise' and 'Fall'.
A fantastic album, and i highly reccommend it.
Its amazing the way he has taken the original haunting melodies of a bygone age and looped and sampled them with a new energy which will keep them alive for the future.
If you like traditional Scottish music but feel that some of it is stagnated then give this a try - you won`t be disappointed.
I first listened to this album loud, through headphones while travelling on the Kyle of Lochalsh railway line and it was a perfect accompaniment to the stunning Highland landscape.
