Review

"Ms. Carey writes some of the most gorgeous, imaginative fantasy I've ever had the pleasure of reading...Naamah's Blessing is a near pitch-perfect finale to a rare, truly fantastic series...the conclusion to Moirin's story is handled with the deftness, emotional poignancy and depth that is Jacqueline Carey's trademark...With Moirin's adventures concluded, I can only hope that there is more in this universe coming, and soon."-- "The Book Smugglers "

I've just finished reading 'Naamah's Blessing', the last in the final trilogy based around Terre D'Ange, by Jacqueline Carey. It was brilliant; a real page-turner that wrapped up Moirin and Bao's adventures and destinies perfectly. I'd suggest going back and re-reading the first two books in the trilogy before reading this one; it's been a while since I'd read them and they read so much better as a whole rather than 3 separate books. It's just a shame that Carey has no current plans to write any more books about the world I've come to love. And if you haven't already read her other trilogies ('Phedre trilogy' and 'Imriel trilogy') then get reading!

I really enjoy Jacqueline Carey's books in general and this one for me lost nothing of her style. Much less focused on sex as a ploy which made a nice change, and the ends were tidied up to my satisfaction. And thankfully, Bao showed none of the really irritating traits that Joscelin did - I have to admit that I was worried this series was just going to be a re-run of Phedre and Joscelin at the start, but it wasn't :) And Bao had plenty of irritating traits of his own, so that was good.

If you haven't liked other books in the Terre d'Ange series, you won't like this one. If you did, you'll probably find it as satisfying as I did. I love trying to draw the parallels between the cultures in these books and the ones in our world and we got to see a few more of them in this series. I love seeing how things have panned out in Alba as well. Maybe next time we can have something exploring the Maghuin Donn in more detail - they're such a fascinating group and Moirin has such potential for further development. I've read that there are no current plans for more books on the d'Angelines, but hopefully that will change!!

Wow! What a fantastic end to the series. I finished this book with tears in my eyes.

Picking up where it left off with Moirin and Bao married and heading back to Terre D'Ange to complete Moirin's destiny with Raphael. From the word go this book is straight back into the excitement of the previous book. The events that transpire, especially Raphael's madness, were gripping. What I really loved about this series and particularly this book is that I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen (the Black River!!) and was completely hooked. The ending was absolutely perfect and well worth staying up reading to the early hours!

Well, in the whole trilogy, this was a book I least enjoyed (same can be said for the whole nine books in this world, - this is the weakest one). It's just more predictable and deviates less from the history as we know. I also admit that Raphael's parts are the least favorites of mine because I dislike his character as much as I love Bao. Moirin saves everyone again because she is just that perfect and that devoted to her goddess. All I felt in the end was relief that I don't have to deal with her anymore. Still, it's a superbly written series.

I have now read all of Jacqueline Carey's D'Angeline series. This book made a great finale to the parallel world that she created. The conclusion of Moirin's adventures seemed very fitting.

Each trilogy was entertaining in its own right. The blend of fantasy and intrigue is very compelling. Just a couple of the books had slightly slow and heavy sections but each book deserves at least 4 stars and the overall series gets top marks from me.

I love Jacqueline Carey's writing, but have to admit that the previous books of Moirin's trilogy didn't captivate me as much as her previous Terre D'Ange work. But this last installment held everything that first captivated me in Phedre's trilogy. I have only one complaint; ants *shudders*. Why'd it have to be ants?
