4.0 out of 5 stars Typical Entertaining Bolywood Film 13 May 2003

Na Tum Jaano Na Hum is another film with a triangular love story.
Debutante director Arjun Sablok has, however, failed to make the movie any different from the usual masala stuff we get from Bollywood.
The director deserves praise for the picturization of the song Aha aha.
As far as acting is concerned, Esha has done well this time. She makes the transition from bubbly schoolgirl to young woman waiting for her love easily. Dancing seems to come naturally to her.
Hrithik retains the same substance everyone talked about after Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. He moves to the music instinctively.
Saif Ali Khan is just about average.
Rajesh Roshan’s music is just ‘Kam Chalaoo’. He can certainly score better music than this.
Overall Na Tum Jaano Na Hum is a typical Bollywood film.

I'm a sucker for Hrithik Roshan romances (and I like Saif Ali Khan too). This is a good one and I wasn't disappointed.
It took me a while to get round to watching this though as the cover looked like a still from 'A Few Good Men' or a CIA action movie and I was looking for something lighter. IGNORE the cover picture! This is really Bollywood light romance of the triangle kind and the sunglasses on the cover are 'cool'.
WE have 2 long time friends. One (Hrithik) sets up a letter writing relationship with Esha (Esha Deol) but they never meet and don't know who each other is. Then fate takes a hand and Hrithik mediates a marriage between Esha and his friend (Saif). Then he realizes too late who Esha really is. This movie is about God taking a hand so you may guess what pans out by the end of 159 minutes.
I enjoyed this one. It was a little slow at the beginning and Esha looked very much too young for Hrithik originally and it didn't mesh. She shed her schoolgirl gear and pigtails and went into young woman and it settled down. Esha was actually very lively and able to convey a range of emotions and was good - as naturally Hrithik and Saif also were.
There's a few good tunes, some decent Hrithik (and Saif) dancing (though don't think too much about why they jumped to some of their fanciful images and locations!)
I liked this one but I see elsewhere on the Net it is often seen as anywhere from just average to above average. This is a keeper.

Similar to "Mujhse Dosti Karoge!", a romantic triangle with Esha (Esha Deol) and Ruhal (Hrithik Roshan) falling in love through their letters and Ruhal only realising who his love is when he has arranged her engagement to his best friend/foster brother Akshay (Sail Ali Khan).

This pretty film begins in a very teenager way, complete with slumber party, and takes a while to get going. Stay with it as the pace picks up significantly in the second half, once Ruhal discovers that, to find love for his best friend, he has broken his own heart (and no one breaks their heart as beautifully as Hrithik). It is worth it for the incredibly romantic sequence of scenes focussed around the too-short little black dress, alone. And, unlike "Mujhse Dosti Karoge!", I understood and sympathised with the barriers keeping our hero and heroine apart.

Esha may not be on an acting par with some of Hrithik's other leading actresses but she is sympathetic and shines with him on the dance floor. Saif plays his typical lovable idiot with ease, providing most of the comedy. The music is mostly pleasant if a little forgettable, other than "Tum" which I loved (helped no doubt by some strong visuals of Hrithik on a lighthouse). And whilst there is the odd peculiar costume choice (Hrithik and Esha's yellow and orange for the music video), there are also some lovely ones (especially Esha's engagement outfit).

So a very pleasant way for the romantic to spend a couple of hours - and if you don't cry a little during the second half, you've a heart of stone.
