After their cars collide an injured man & woman stagger to a nearby gothic mansion to seek help. The satanic master of the house puts the pair through a series of trials & tribulations. Are they in a state of shock? Hallucinating on the edge of death? Or dead already and in hell?
Ok, if you are into early 1970s Euro exploitation erotic horror then you have eccentric tastes in cinema, but then if you are reading this review you presumably share this guilty pleasure. Nude for Satan, despite its daft title, is a reasonably good example of the genre, the "plot" is quite clever (if derivative) & it's quite well made, apart from a few lapses - the master / satan character is decidedly underwhelming & don't even mention the ludicrous giant spider - but that type of ridiculousness is part of the absurd appeal. Like most Italian examples of the genre there is some silliness but fortunately little (intentional) comedy. Most importantly, many scenes have the dreamy & delirious quality that makes this type of film interesting. As horror the film fails completely but as erotic surrealism it just about succeeds - thanks in part to the central performance of the rather wonderful Rita Calderoni. If you like early 1970s Jess Franco & Jean Rollin then you'll probably enjoy this.
