Neuro-Linguistic Programming is based on the idea that the human mind is a sort of computer - our verbal and body language are the programmes which allow us to change our own thoughts and influence other people e.g. using body language and speech patterns to create instant rapport with someone else. We already use such techniques on a sub-conscious level - NLP simply helps us crystalize what we already know. This workbook is a basic, at-home NLP course, providing easy-to-follow exercises and reflections to which the reader can return time and again. It addresses topics such as How to Change Emotional State, The Power of Language and Getting Results, and can be applied to all kinds of different areas e.g. business, sport, health. The NLP workbook is designed to be a basic manual for the beginner in NLP, and also a clear and easy reference manual for practitioners and trainers.

Joseph O'Connor is a writer, teacher, trainer and pyschotherapist, and leading training workshops around the world. He has published 9 bestselling NLP titles, including 'Introducing NLP' and 'Principles of NLP', and his work has been tranlated into 14 languages.

By far the most practical book on NLP I have found.Since a major plank of nlp is to act and observe the outcomes this book is as congruent as you can get. It is very practical - possibly not for the complete novice - and guides you through a series of activities which enable you to experience how much fun NLP is and what huge benefits are possible for those who do something about it.

I had heard of NLP and thought it sounded a bit too scientific for me, however I went to see an NLP practitioner with a specific problem; I was unable to speak out and voice my thoughts to a large group of people. I found the NLP process that she used extremely interesting and bought this book to help me understand it better. The ideas (and technical words) are explained well and it is very useable as a workbook for dealing with personal, relationship and work issues. You can read it methodically or dip into it. If you are fed up with an aspect of your life that you feel is holding you back - and are determined to do something about it, then this book will provide you with the tools to take charge of the situation and change it.

I have read dozens of books on NLP, reports, Journals,etc, and found that this has taken me forwards more than any other. It really has expanded my thinking regarding the sub conscious, and as a consequence, can recommend it fully. Not five stars, due to it's text book like quality, but a good four stars. Buy it- you won't regret it.
