5.0 out of 5 stars The Word Brought To Life 28 Dec 2009
By Gracie
Format:MP3 CD|Verified Purchase
This is fantastic, it's a professional production of the Bible. I have another version which is just read by one guy, and I can't listen to it for long as he seems to drone on after a while. But this has top actors voicing the many parts: Jim Caviezel as Jesus, Richard Dreyfus as Moses, Gary Sinise as David, and many more, so it comes to life, especially with some quaint sound effects like a radio play, which I understand is the idea.

It uses the NKJV, which is a quality translation and this MP3 version is very reasonable, especially as I got it for nearly half price. One feature I loved when I put it onto my computer was that each book is individually labelled, which granted takes up most of my iTunes list, but makes it very easy to find scriptures.

Because it is dramatised it is about 25% longer than other audio versions, but I put it on whilst I was doing my Christmas baking and it was fantastic, and I listened to loads more than I would have on my droning version! Plus I found that the slower presentation actually helped to take in what I was listening to.

As an MP3 it only takes up about 12 CDs so it was quick to download, and it comes in a sturdy metal case which zips around. This was my Christmas present to myself, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. If you want to read the Bible from cover to cover but seem to fail half way through then this will really help. Thoroughly recommended. But if you're unsure you can download free sample books on iTunes and the official website to see if you would like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars word of promise 13 April 2010
Format:Audio CD
good quality sound production easy to listen to, but not all my cds have cd name or track name and some tracks have the wrong name which is quite annoying when you cant see what is playing dont let that put you off purchasing this product well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dramatized with music! 5 Aug 2011
Format:Audio CD
The readers are very good. Clear diction and reasonably well emphasized etc. However, if you are thinking of buying this, you need to know that it has a defect (in my view) that, being dramatized with music etc., means the omission of words from the biblical text. For example, when reading narrative, the introductory words are not read out. "And God said" is omitted from And God said, Let there be light etc. - so you get just the voice of the reader who is reading God's part saying "Let there be light". In this respect it is not as good as the version read by Stephen Johnstone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent audio Bible!! 29 Sep 2010
Format:MP3 CD
I bought this audio bible after tried a lot of different ones. It is amazing! I really believe that it changed my perception of the bible. Many passages turned alive. Jim Caviezel was really remarkable... Problably due to an association with "The Passion of the Christ" which is an excellent movie.

Some characters voices are not exactually how I imagined, but I guess it is open to the directors interpretation. The sound effects bring another perspective to this audio bible. The sound track is also top quality... Good pacing as well.

I would say it is a must definitely for people that love audiobooks!!

Brilliant product. The producers haven't spared much expense in producing this. Some actors could have done better like John the Baptist and Isaiah didn't really cry out in the wilderness!! Also some actors didn't suit the character, for instance Moses.
But, cannot complain too much. The book of Revelation was most dramatic with many sound effects!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great listening experience 13 Oct 2011
Format:MP3 CD
As the title suggests I wholeheartedly recommend this set as a listening experience. The dramatisation and the faithfulness to the text are excellent. I initially bought this as a gift and had to get another because I fell in love with it. I use this to make use of my daily commute throughout my day. The actors voices are excellent and the whole set holds together really well.
