First things first this game is not for children.
First 15 minutes you have a number of questionable moments, but this is NIS America so its kind of expected. Its a fun game though dont get me wrong, the whole MOE kill system is confusing as your trying to focus on whats going on while trying to get the thing done.
Its a little hard as well trying to pick up the functions of the game on the fly as there is only short tutorials along the story line. My best sugguestion is that you take the first chapter and just spend some time getting used to everything or you might miss out on the fun.
Levels are accessable like Disgaea series, as in you can head back to them whenever you want, other then that its a map you can explore with the main character Chou-Chou, who can turn into seven different forms, each map gives you a bonus chance at conquering them using those different forms, money or the amount of battles you've been in. This is important as it lets you move onto the next level.
I can reccomend this game to anyone who enjoyed Disgaea, but expect some sluggish loading screens every now and again.
