I call this an eco-thriller, a new genre in and of itself.Was it Louis B. Meyer who said if you want to send a message try Western Union? Hogwash. All books, like all movies (and all media) have a message. What's always at issue is what the message is, who gets to deliver it, and in what form. For me environmentally related crime is red hot, and every bit as valid for thrillers or mysteries as, say, who stole the damned diamonds or killed the congressman (who probably deserved it anyway)!!
