The NEWLink Docking Station allows 2.5" or 3.5" SATA Hard Drives to be used externally. It can be placed on your desktop for easy access and it is connected to your computer via the High Speed USB 2.0 Interface.
It Supports 2.5" HDD up to 500 Gigabyte (Gb) and 3.5" HDD's up to 1 Terabyte (TB). The Docking Station can be used to transfer files from your computer, for backing up or it can be used as additional storage. Black, can sit on the desk, is transportable.
Good alternative if your rig doesn't have pace for a SATA testing bay
It is really portable and is light and well durable. All you need carry is this and a USB cable along with the power lead.
Can test laptop 2.5 inch and 3.5inch SATA drives.
I used mine portably and at home to isolate HDD's to defrag and virus scan them.
Will connect toWin 2000, XP and Vista. Does not need the HDD to be iinstalled, it will pop up as an external HDD usually will. Is also compatible with Linux.
The release button and flap feel durable but make a tinny noise if pressed harshly. My only concern is the risk of ESD damage to a HDD because the top is exposed so I tend to place it on an ESD mat away from other components.

Very easy to use, my disk showed up as normal drives in windows and you can write to it as soon as you have formatted the drive.
Worked seemlessly with 2.5 and 3.5 disks. Spring mechanism moves for the size of disk to keep it in place.
Good transfer speed, I copied 60gb in less than 10mins I have a very large no of small files.

Having stripped my old PC of all the "insides" before committing it to the elephant's graveyard, I was left with the hard drive, still holding a lot of info. Saw this particular docking station on here and decided to give it a go - superb. Just plug the HD into the docking station, connect to the PC via USB and hey presto, I now have a second ext HD on which I store photos, music, important docs etc. Recommended product.

NEWLINK USB 2.0 Docking station
Docking station works very well and there was no problem in operating it. It would have been better if there was an instruction book.

I am not setisfied at all
I bought it and for the first use was broken. I realized that has a problem after I bought a new internal drive. It is better to give some pounds more to buy a better product.

Seems good value for money
Only had it a week but works perfectly so far. It does seem a bit flimsy but I'm using it for a 1tb drive full of media attached to a media player, so I won't be moving it much. Read more
