The Max Value USB2.0 LAN Disc is a compact, economic NAS (Network Attached Storage) for personal or home office use. It simply connects through a LAN (Local Area Network.)
The enclosure accepts a 3.5" IDE HDD up to 500GB in size and its aluminium casing and fan prevents overheating. You can also connect it using USB2.0 to utilize a 480Mbps data transfer rate.

Amazon Verified Purchase
For the price this is a bargain. It is simple to install an IDE drive and configure.
It is useful to have the flexibility of using it on a network or using it as a mobile USB device.
Word of warning for Vista owners, it worked fine out of the box with XP but I had to upgrade the firmware to prevent both my Vista PCs locking up with it (Samba version compatibility issue).
I did however manage to fix it by upgrading the firmware, which can be found on the internet for this chipset (R2882).
It now works fine!

Great bit of kit and some useful software that comes with it. But do be warned it only supports FAT32, and becuase of this i have had to copy alot of data to a spair hard drive, format my origonal drive and copy it back over which is a very lengthy process. I think that it is a great product but with only usb support for ntfs i think some improvements should be made.
