Product Description

Product Description

It's easy to laugh at those who believe that the earth is flat. But certain recent scientific theories suggest that the three space dimensions and one of time we observe are not sufficient to express a "theory of everything". Miracles, predestination, external life and other paradoxes may simply stem from a mismatch: humans using 3-D senses to experience a universe of as many as 11 dimensions. Recalling a 19th-century novel set in an imaginary world of 2-D creatures, the title "The New Flatlanders" is the name of a seekers' group. This record of their guided deliberations adds up to a defence of spirituality over materialism and gives Christian apologists greater confidence to debate with scientists.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Answer Book? Maybe..., 14 Feb 2004

This review is from: NEW FLATLANDERS PB: A Seekers Guide to the Theory of Everything (Paperback)
I recently had the privelige of meeting Dr Eric Middleton to discuss this book and the issues tied up with it. I was greatly interested by it, and what Mr Middleton had to say. His work is very important to him, and this is a feeling that he well conveys, as his belief in many dimensions includes a religious or spiritual dimension to life. I think that this book is essential for anyone who is interseted in or studying theology, physics, philosophy or R.E at any academic level. It is also good to include it if you are personally considering the meanings of life and the universe and ideas of a higher entity. It is also good to note that an email address is included the book, so any further questions can be directed to mr Middleton.
It claims to be a 'Seekers Guide to the Theory of Everything' although you may not be able to decide on every weighty question you have ever had, it may be able to take you one step closer to peace of mind and understanding on a higher level than most people strive for.
Well Recommended, written by a thoroughly nice man in an interesting way, just buy it and you will indeed understand.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sadly Misquided!!, 3 Feb 2008
By L. Nelson "wisdom seeker" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The New Flatlanders: A Seeker's Guide to the Theory of Everything (Paperback)
Book went somewhat well until I read -
"No religion leads to God - not even Christianity without Jesus."
No wonder we are still having religous wars around the world. This may one way but it certainly is not the only way.
And then we have - "The person he (THE DEVIL)is primarily opposed to is God, but you and I are the pawns in a bigger battle for control." So much for the OMNIPOTENCE of God.
I found all this to be very unenlightened for this day and age. A real waste of time.
