The Netgear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router WNDR3700 doesn't have a modem as it's used with CABLE Broadband. (Virgin Media). I upgraded from a Netgear WGR614 wireless modem and, Oh what a difference! I now have a 1000mb (1 gigabit) network to transfer files between my NAS (Network Attached Storage) boxes and PC's. What took hours before now takes minutes. The router boasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks, WPA2 encryption and a handy little button that allows you to set up many newer wireless devices (Printers, Laptops etc) at the push of a button. The user interface is easy to use, intuitive and clear. It's also easy to turn off one or both wireless networks if they're not needed, and you can turn off the SSID broadcast name once you're all set up, to avoid the neighbours trying to logon to your network, and slowing things up. It comes with a stand, or can be shelf or wall mounted. For the aesthetes out there, it looks GOOD. This is the Aston Martin of the Router world, built for speed, with power and versatility under a crisp bodyshell. I think I like it!
