Would these be suitable as standalone lights for video work and if so can they be attached to standard lighting stands - do I need an adaptor of some sort? 3 Apr 2014
Hi Gary, I bough two of these for video work. They have a standard tripod mount (1/4" not 3/8") so I use a couple of cheap old tripods to mount them. The supplied gells are fine for colour correction but for diffusion I drape some paper over the front. Battery life with 6 re-chargeable AAs is around 60 minutes. Brightness is sufficient to bounce light off a reflector for close up interview shots - which is what I do.
you could make a frame and fit gels some craft shops sell coloured plastic that you can see through-amazon might
A couple of questions really. How hot does the light get? Does the unit come with a uk plug (for battery charger I assume)? 26 Mar 2014
As they are LED lights they stay pretty cool. This is a battery only unit .. no mains charger . Hope that helps you
