I'd say these are ok because they really aren't amazing but I've used worse in my time. The pads themselve are pretty thin, I will be searching for something else that isn't a rip off but where the protective pads give you a little more confidence, I used these on holiday in March. Although I am very experienced I like to feel I can take on icey patches with no fear. If I was learning then I wouldn't trust it to save me from a bad fall.
Biggest complaint was the back side protector, the pad that is supposed to protect the coccyx just didnt seem to align properly. Problem is that I wore the shorts high up so it was covering my entire tail bone but this meant the hip pads were too high, and visa versa for when I wore it a little lower to protect the hips. All in all its a good fall back for impact injuries for someone experienced who wants low key protection and was a reasonable price - just wasn't heavy duty enough for me or learners IMO.
