In this unique art book and epic collaboration, long-term friends, photographer Rankin and artist Damien Hirst, leverage their creative mediums and shared dark wit. Inspired by their conversations around myths, monsters and legends, they decided to extend their exploration of the subject by creating something tangible. Working to break boundaries of convention, the resulting photographs are ethereal and menacing, the ancient world viewed through a modern lense.

Unique edition - really huge black book... Pages are paired and you have to cut some of them to see what's hiding beneath... Two talented artists make this project really scary but beautiful...
What would one expect from Damien, and Rankin, but a visually extra-ordinary production. No sharks in tanks but some sculls, with amazing creations of the Mythic, this is just how Hirst's mind works, brought stunningly to 'life' by the photography of Rankin. If you are intrigued and appreciative of Hirst's work in general, or a fan of films like 'Pan's Labyrinth'etc. this is for you. The breadth of works on his regular theme of life, death and the in-between seems to get wider and deeper, where will he go next? A facinating development which could lead to film or theatre? For those who do admire Hirst's output remember there is his retrospective at Tate Modern from 4 April 2012. Well worth the purchase price to get into another's head and its imaginary world.
