I have always been fascinated with Greek Myths. I started with the stories, moved on to the films (Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts) and ended up eventually doing a degree in classics. I was really keen to share my enthusiasm with my daughter. She got this book as a present and at the age of three it's now her absolutely favorite bed time reading, having supplanted the Disney Book of Princesses in a big way. She loves the stories and the pictures and can proudly tell anyone how to deal with Medusa, or a Hydra, or a Sphinx - it has really captured her imagination. On a more serious note, myths and fairy tales can be a good way to explore some of life's uncertainties too and talking about how she would vanquish various monsters seems to make her feel quite self confident. The illustrations are fantastic - really imaginative - and it's good fun for adults to read too.

Very imaginative 16 Oct 2009
This picture book is aimed at children, but parents will love it too.
The illustrations are beautiful and unique, I have never seen anything like these in all of the children's books I have come across.
They are made from a mixed media collage of bright colours and unusual shapes. They are unusual and sometimes surprising.

This will soon become one of your children's favorite books... their imaginations can run wild with the images and story.

There isn't so much of a story, but lots of little stories about each character/monster which appear in Greek myths. You will meet exciting characters such as the Sphinx, Pegasus and the Harpies. It takes you through each of their mythical stories and you find out interesting facts and information about each of them.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for reading
