I have always been fascinated with Greek Myths. I started with the stories, moved on to the films (Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts) and ended up eventually doing a degree in classics. I was really keen to share my enthusiasm with my daughter. She got this book as a present and at the age of three it's now her absolutely favorite bed time reading, having supplanted the Disney Book of Princesses in a big way. She loves the stories and the pictures and can proudly tell anyone how to deal with Medusa, or a Hydra, or a Sphinx - it has really captured her imagination. On a more serious note, myths and fairy tales can be a good way to explore some of life's uncertainties too and talking about how she would vanquish various monsters seems to make her feel quite self confident. The illustrations are fantastic - really imaginative - and it's good fun for adults to read too.
