Product Description

While drinking cosmopolitans, Gwendolyn Kidd meets the man of her dreams. Then she takes him home. Then she wakes up alone. But her fear that she lost her dream man turns into a relationship with a mystery man when, night after night in the dead of night, he comes back for more. Hoping it will blossom into something real, she lets him.

But she doesn’t even know his name.

Gwen’s struggling with the decision to end their crazy non-relationship when her sister-from-hell, Ginger’s best friend pays a visit and warns Gwen that if she and her sister don't get smart, they'll both get d-e-a-d, dead. Gwen has no clue what’s going on but she’s used to Ginger’s antics and decides to lay the problem on her sister’s biker boyfriend's doorstep. Bad choice. She hits the Denver Underground radar with a big, loud ping.

This means Gwen’s Mystery Man, Cabe “Hawk” Delgado has to step in to keep her safe. But when Hawk gets a dose of Gwen in the daylight, he makes the decision that he finally wants real with Gwen. However when Gwen gets a dose of badass, bossy, straight-talker Hawk in the daylight, she decides she’s done.

Thus begins the head-to-head of the Commando vs. Cosmo Girl as Hawk woos Gwen in his own unique way, Gwen survives firebombs, drive-bys, kidnappings, hot pursuits by biker hotties and gorgeous police detectives and discovers the heartbreaking reason why Hawk kept her at arm’s length.

And as all this happens, Gwen finds that her sister’s troubles are serious trouble and she must decide who to keep alive: her sister-from-hell or the man of her dreams.

More About the Author

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing's changed.

All Kristen has ever wanted to do was write (well, and be the Queen of the World, but you gotta start small). Somehow, she got into the charity biz and found another calling. She worked for the Rocky Mountain MS Center and the Colorado Neurological Institute before moving to England. Now she does both, working for The Pituitary Foundation in Bristol, UK by day, sitting at her computer typing out stories by night.

Kristen now lives in England and got there by way of Denver, where she lived for twelve years, but she grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Her Mom moved her and her brother and sister in with their grandparents when Kristen was six. Her grandparents had a daughter much younger than her Mom so they all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. Kristen grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers and REO Speedwagon (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gets better as you go 29 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have to admit that I wasn't sure about this book before reading it. I mean have you read the blurb? A woman who has sex with a man for 18 months and she doesn't even know his name, she only knows that he breaks into her house at night has his wicked way with her then leaves. I found this to be very creepy and it remained that way for the first 30% of the book. I was actually going to stop reading it but people said it got better so I stuck with it and I'm pleased to say it did get better.

Gwen is a good character I actually liked her even though she let a stranger into her bed for 18 months. Hawk is a dick for a lot of the book but he does get better when we actually find out some things about him and in the end I liked him very much. There are some awesome secondary characters and even some of the characters from the Rock Chick series turn up which I loved. Plus we meet the guys who feature in the books that make up this series and I cannot wait to read their stories.

As with all of Kristen Ashley books Mystery Man is quite a long book and I can see some people may be put off with this as the story probably could be shortened, however I'm glad it wasn't. If you like Kristen Ashley books then I think you will like this just don't let the creepy start put you off. I am going to give Mystery Man 4 stars.

I've read this book so many times and it gets never gets old. I love the way Kristen writes she is a truly phenomenal writer I can never put her books down. I love the sass and humour that come with Kristen's books and the way she makes you feel a roller coaster of emotions throughout the whole story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystery Man - Dream Man Series 12 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book in the Dream Man series and I recommend you read them in order. I started with Motorcycle Man (which I think is actually the last book) and found it hard to get my head around all the characters.

Mystery Man aka Hawk is one hot Alpha Male (in fact there are a couple of other hot Alpha males in the book, so I was rather spoilt). Gwen is a laugh out loud typical KA heroine. Loved her. Therefore a good start and the book just got better and better. Yes, there were a few WTF? moments where things got a touch unrealistic (or perhaps not, I don't live in Denver so am hardly qualified to comment) however this did not detract from my overall experience because I read to escape. If I wanted real life I'd watch Sky News 24/7 and beat myself up. And if you restrict yourself to reading at 100 mph and not 350 mph, you will see that the characters are real, with pasts, issues, insecurities, faults just like us. These books, for all their hilarity, hot sex and incredible storylines, tend to have an honest, believable message underneath. I was drawn in very quickly and read into the night until I face-planted my Kindle.

Therefore, all in all, a brilliant book, part of an addictive series (each of which can be read alone so you are not left teetering on a cliff-hanger for 7 months) and yet another example of a superb, and lucky for us, an extremely prolific, writer.

One word of warning, this book actually mentions the Rock Chick series and at that point my heart sank a little. More KA books I would be unable to resist. I checked my bank account - would it have to be shoes or books? An unfair decision for any woman to make. So I made it quickly, I one-clicked on Wild Man and then went out a bought a pair of red shoes for comfort.
