The author's second book, but first work of fiction. It is a great story of two young friends who stumble upon a cryptic mystery in their own boarding school which proves to be key to a generations old alumni pact. The characters are engaging and very likeable, the pace of the story is excellent, with one clue following another as the pair race to the conclusion. I very much enjoyed it (being in the "young at heart" category) and have no doubt that it will also appeal to young people aged 10 and over. Personally I am hoping for a sequel starring the same inquisitive pair. Summary: Like JK Rowling and Philip Pullman, a book to be shared with the whole family.
