4.0 out of 5 stars Old Fashioned Point and Click Fun, 21 Mar 2006
By
This review is from: The Mystery of the Druids (PC DVD) (Video Game)
Mystery of the Druids is a good old fashioned point and click adventure based around occult murders, very much in the vein of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars. There are plenty of puzzles to keep all manner of adventurers happy; some may seem extraordinarily drawn out to achieve what should be a simple end but if you like stealing cats to throw at Frenchmen in order to obtain a vital item to melt rocks then this is for you....! Most of the puzzles are logical (once you solve them you can see it!) but I found a few near the end of the game required trial and error rather than pure thought and furious workings out which spoilt it a little, but maybe I missed some clues in my hurry to save the world; the more patient and methodical of you out there may well prove me wrong. The ending was, as is so oft the case, sadly abrupt and disappointing for all the effort it took getting there but all in all, I enjoyed the game tremendously and can recommend it to all serious adventurers. Not as good as Gabriel Knight or Broken Sword, but better than Black Mirror or The Watchmaker.

2.0 out of 5 stars A frustrating experience, 25 July 2007

I have played quite a few point and click games and this is the least fun by a long way. It in no way compares to the best examples of the genre like Broken Sword or Secret Files Tunguska. I found the whole experience frustrating - why would putting salt on a stone structure cause it to collapse? The puzzles are not logical, and you seem to endlessly have to travel back and forth between places for no obvious reason. It just degenerates into trying every item on everything until one works.

Have just completed this game, it was very enjoyable with the right level of puzzles, it seemed a little slow and old fashioned at first but the absorbing story line and intriguing puzzles soon made up for it. It gave me many hours of enjoyable gameplay, if you enjoy the type of puzzles like broken sword or myst you will love this
