Product Description

Product Description

An introduction to Kabbalah, the mystical and secret tradition of Judaism. It explains Kabbalah's fundamental myths and symbols, which have so profoundly influenced both the Jewish and non-Jewish world. The book delves into such Kabbalist phenomena as the hearing of angels' voices, "Chokmah" (a form of transcendental wisdom), the four divine names and the five modalities of being, the light of infinity, and the significance of each of the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Marc-Alain Ouaknin also explores the influence of Kabbalah on art, literature, music, architecture, psychoanalysis and health. The book closes with a chapter on meditation.

The best single introduction to Jewish Kabbalah 2 Jan 2004
By S. Eyer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Given the explosion of popular interest in the study of Kabbalah, and the unfortunate popularity of a slew of simplistic and distorted introductions from a new age perspective, it is particulary timely for a book of this quality to emerge.

The book is pleasantly designed and well-illustrated. It consists of dozens of short (but detailed) chapters which provide effective introductions to kabbalistic ideas... including many which are completely overlooked in some texts. The author is a legitimate academic, but writes in an extremely accessible style.

If you're looking for a book to get started with kabbalah seriously, I can't think of anything better than this. Skip the candy and go right to solid food!

Clear, Concise Principles 19 Feb 2001
By "ravenmunin" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book is beautifully written and creatively inspired. It is presented in a clear manner, and gives precise examples on how to apply Kabbalistic principles to every aspect of Life. It moves your spirit while occupying your intellect. I highly recommend this book to all students of Kabbalah, beginners or seasoned students alike. After studying Sprirtual Principles for 39 years, finding this book was like finding a lost key.

By Konstantin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
It is a great volume that I go back to every now and then. The reading is pleasant, while giving a plethora of information and food for thought.

The illustrations and overall desigh is very pleasant to the eye. Buy it, if you haven't yet.
