Product Description

This book sets out to show that Chartres, like other cathedrals and great monuments of Egypt and Greece, is the manifestation of an ancient and secret lost knowledge that was communicated to mankind by occult or mystical means. In the flowering of medieval gothic, with its significant proportion and dimensions combined with the harmony of light and sound, can be found the sources of divine knowledge, and by deciphering this message in gothic art, man also realizes his own qualities and raises himself to a superior state of being. This book, which refers back to deep sources of divine knowledge, is at the same time a guide for those who want to penetrate the riddle of this "book of stone".

If you like history that is just a little bit of the beaten track, this might be a book for you.
Just how were the gothic churches build?
Who build them and who taught the builders?

It's fascinating.
Dont know if the writer is right, but it sure made me think!

Historically very interesting Makes the reader think about how the people of that age were able to engineer a project of this magnitude & about where the finances came from<P>.
5.0 out of 5 stars Thought Provoking! 20 Jan 2014

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Thought provoking book asks not how this extraordinary cathedral was built but by whom and why. Also explains clearly the principles of the "sacred geometry" and points out some unique features of the edifice arising from its use. There is a sense of awe that the author cannot suppress but one wonders if this attitude adds to what can be learned from questioning traditional ideas about medieval construction or complicates the subject. Highly enjoyable. When
