The title of this book is misleading. It is actually no more than a guide to installing MySQL, Apache, PHP and IMP on RedHat Linux and setting up a web based email service.
Plenty of information on IMAP, but not that much good as a general PHP/MySQL text, as the title implies.

What's said on the cover and what the book actually contains are two different things. It's most probably the book I've been most disappointed with in a very long time.

I was trying to set up a web based email service and this book helped me a lot - I didn't know much about installing the various packages and even less about sendmail but with the book's help I got it all up and running and working perfectly. So whatever the other reviewers say, it's a really good book if you're looking to do something similar.

Disappointing, not really a developer's book, CD missing
The book is basically just a manual for assembling a set of standard packages in a standard way, accompanied by a mass of reference material on the packages. Read more
