4.0 out of 5 stars A Useful Guide for Xbox One Gamers 9 Jun 2014
By Scott R. Garrigus (www.garrigus.com) - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
First came the Xbox, then the Xbox 360, and now the Xbox One. None of these systems is particularly difficult to use, however, the Xbox One is loaded with features that put it beyond a mere gaming console. My Xbox One provides a useful step-by-step guide to show you how to take advantage of all the console has to offer. The book begins at the very beginning with a 11-page prologue to the device itself and then an additional 30 pages in chapter 1 covering how to set up the system.

The book then naturally progresses to information about navigating the Dashboard and managing the settings. You'll also learn about signing up for and using Xbox Live for online gaming and other activities. You'll learn about setting up your profile, managing games and apps, using your Xbox for online social activities, playing and managing video content (including Blu-rays and DVDs), as well as accessing your music. The later chapters in the book explain how to manage files with the OneDrive app, surf the Internet with Internet Explorer, and how to use SmartGlass.

The book is professionally designed with clear, numbered steps for each of the included tasks, as well as full-color photos that are labeled with the various step numbers so that you know exactly what to do and where to look on the screen. The one thing I found missing from My Xbox One is information on system maintenance, which would be very helpful in terms of how to maintain your console and back up the system in case of any kind of failure. Overall, My Xbox One provides a nice, colorful guide for new Xbox gamers. --- Find more reviews at NewTechReview.com.
