I set about looking for a book for my 5 year old daughter after many portraits of identical princesses. There's lots of doodling books in the market and 'how to draw' book but this is the exact product I was looking for for my daughter's age range.. The wide variety of subjects (interesting to both little boys and girls) and easy to follow instruction ( no words needed, ie, yay she can draw happily alone for as long as her attention span) is simply fantastic. I'll definitely recommend this to any ohild who likes to draw and am in fact, getting a few more as presents.

Great step-by-step drawing book for juniors 6 Dec. 2010

When I asked my daughter's art teacher to suggest extra art work to do at home, she recommended books from Walter Foster. Most of Wlater Foster books are relatively thin with special subjects like sea animals, farm animals, etc. This book is a newly published one with a collection of subjects that easily attracts interest of a young child. My 5-year-old daughter is happily drawing using the step-by-step instruction and the final pictures came out nice. After once or twice following the steps, she can draw the object without having to refer to the book anymore since she already grasped the characteristics, portios and ratios of each part of the object. Even adult who is interested in drawing can use this book to draw simple object. Really a wonderful gift for young children who are in love with drawing.

I got these for a youngster who thought he wanted them, I think another time I would try to find something much cheaper as the interest didn't last
