This was a real good read or in this case listen. It was hard to believe that this was written so very long ago. It was well read and the plot was intriguing. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Excellent value

5.0 out of 5 stars Francis Durbridge is a good find 6 Mar 2013

Great pace, great characters, smart cop and a good ending. Francis Durbridge is a fun alternative to modern, over-done intrigue mysteries.

Brought back happy memmories of how a skilled mystery writer can consistently leave you guessing. Ignore the somewhat antiquated writing and enjoy a good yarn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent thriller 7 April 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Having bought most of Paul Temple Audio,s I gave this a good chance also the reading and different voices by Greg Wise was most enjoyable his different inflections for the characters was so believable and so many twist and turns. We played it on a long car journey and the time passed very quickly. It kept both my wife and my self entertained all the way home

This is a fantastic blast from the past by the best crime writer ever. I hope that his wonderful former TV series are released on DVD soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good classic Durbridge. Shame about the ending
DOn't know whether it is a kindle error or an issue with the orignal book. But the well-pced stiory suddenly stops without a satisfactory final explanation. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Durbridge
Entertaining nostalgia. The story draws you in and the characters are well-drawn. The plotting is what you would expect from Durbridge. Altogether a satisfying read.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Wife Melissa by Francis Durbridge
Short read but nonetheless charming. Some parts are quite predictable, but it doesn't affect the flow of the narrative. I'd recommend it as an enjoyable quick read!

4.0 out of 5 stars A twisting tale...
Well read and engaging, but would have been better with a full cast as there are lots of characters. A little dated, but that is the genre and a glimpse of the past.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read
A thoroughly old fashioned but engaging page turner. A good read for a bit of light relief from the real world or for the holidays.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok
Was ok for a few long drives I had, story was fine just the narrators voice got a bit boring after a while. Passed the time though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good first half
Some of the characteristics of Dick Francis and all of those of Francis Durbridge. Finished less strongly than it began.
