Very good for children and young people to enjoy and this book was very exciting and outstanding and was very funny and I think that it is the best book I have ever read and has encouraged me to do what I need to do and has made me step up for myself more than other people telling me what to do so everyone in the world should read this book. Purchased this book to help a student with her fluency! We have had so much fun picking out poems to read and reread to each other. She especially likes the ones set to a tune, since she's very musical! It's a great collection, and I look forward to collecting an entire set!

Poetry books are always great to have. My 4th graders love reading poetry, especially funny poetry, and I love that they're reading. It helps students with their fluency by rereading the poems over and over and they're doing this on their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Students love these poems! 30 Nov 2009

My third grade students love all of Bruce Lansky's poem books. The books are invaluable because not only do they expose the children to poetry, but the students find them so funny that they want to read them over and over. The humor is often cheesy and low-brow however the kids can relate to the topics.

My grandchildren love funny poems. They have poetry in school and I would go to school to read to the class. I always took in funny poems which captured all the children's attention. This book is a great poetry book for children to interest them in poetry

5.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLY FUNNY AND FUN 10 Feb 2012
By D. Blankenship - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
There are around 50 short poems in this wonderful little book all dealing with the trials and tribulations of kids going to school. There was not one poem in this work that did not bring either a smile to my face or more often that not, a chuckle. The editor, Bruce Lansky, knows kids - have no doubt about that, and he captures their actions and thought processes perfectly in these works in his selections. A random selection is as follows:

MY HOMEWORK

"Hey, Dad, my teacher told me
my homework's really bad.
And if it doesn't soon improve,
then he'll get hopping mad."

"That means I must do better
than I have done before.
So I'm asking you a favor:
Don't help me anymore!"

Bob Woodroffe

The illustrations by Stephen Carpenter are top rate and illustrate the selected poem perfectly.

This is a wonderful classroom read as almost each and ever child will be able to relate to just about every poem in this collection. The poems are fun to read for the adult reader and have the added advantage of allowing the adult to take a little nostalgic trip.
