If you like your books bold and beautiful with thick glossy pages and lots of colour pictures, this one is for you. It's a decent reference manual covering most of the Surface functions... rather than prose-heavy "good read". The only downside is that the high quality (production wise) comes at a price, and you can find much of the same information in some "cheap and cheerful" Kindle books such as A Newbies Guide to the Microsoft Surface Tablet: Everything You Need to Know About the Surface and Windows RT and The Quick & Easy (QUEASY) Guide to Microsoft Surface.

When you buy a Microsoft "Surface", there are no instructions whatsoever. Its operation may be self-evident after a while, but not to the novice user. This manual rectifies the fault of Microsoft in not supplying instructions and does it very clearly. If you buy a "Surface", this is absolutely necessary.

Love this book , I use it as a reference as I forget and need to remind myself. I found my tablet lacked having a reference book. and this book does the job.

Is a good book with a good amount of pictures and easy step by step to using your Surface, with range from basic use to using programs.

Great book, covers wide variety of topics. 4 Jan. 2013

This is a really nice book for any owner of a Surface. It covers all the basics for beginners and gets into some things that are a little more advanced for the experienced user. It also has a nice section on using MS Office, for people like me that have not used it yet. Also, there a lot of little hints and short cuts to make use of.

An excellent source for beginners up to intermediate users. Contains many tips and tricks that are use in mastering the Surface.
An excellent reference for using a Surface RT 1 Aug. 2014
By R. L. Campbell - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is a good reference for beginners because it covers most of Windows and Surface basics. It also provides details for advanced Windows users who are new to the Microsoft tablet platform. It is easy to follow the step-by-step directions to learn how to use a Surface tablet specifically and to use Windows RT 8 and Office 2013 on the Surface. It covers cloud computing, Microsoft accounts, the App Store and like topics thoroughly. One thing missing is how to select text without using a mouse. It's a bit tricky and I couldn't find any help on it. There is no Copy and Paste entry in the index. But I did find the answer to figuring out why I couldn't get a Wi-Fi connection to work.
