Book Description

Charlotte Brontë's classic love story retold, set in a futuristic dystopia.

In the late 21st century, the American "red states" have formed New Judah, a more perfect union founded on biblical principles, rejection of technology, and reverence for women.

Orphaned Jane survives a cruel childhood and harsh boarding school education to become a governess at a remote and beautiful estate where mysterious and damaged Fairfax Rochester threatens her with a lawless love that shatters everything she's struggled for.

Episode 4: Mr. Rochester draws Jane closer, using physical intimacy to strip away her defenses. She finds herself more dependent on him every day ~ but is it love or mere desire that binds them?

Jane feels increasingly overpowered by Rochester's personality and will. When the devastating secret of Thornfield Hall is exposed, she may not be able to save herself.

I absolutely loved My Mr. Rochester. Never have been able to get enough of Jane Eyre. The author saved this work by setting it in a distant future and unique setting. Every reference to the original touched me and made me say "yes"! I read it on Kindle but will buy the hard copy to add to my collection of Jane Eyre products. Don't be afraid to read these novels (set of 5). They are a treasure.

I started the fifth in the series yesterday. This was hard to put down and when I have finished the fifth one I will miss them, Mr. And Mrs. Rochester.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reworked 21 April 2014

The resetting of Jane Eyre into a fictionalized world consisting of a Mormonesque utopia seceding from the US is an interesting idea, but strained credulity. A woman discovering her independence is core to the original. A woman raised in a restrictive society suddenly indulging in creative sex play with the lord of the manor strikes a note of "Shades of Gray" rather than the independence of thought required for the lead character in Jane Eyre. The finish is a sad wrap-up of loose ends with obvious haste. It could have been intriguing, instead it was just a clever idea poorly worked.

Again I really enjoyed this book for its own story line as well as for how it followed the original book.
