Fantastic book, I read this series a while ago before the reprints were done and they are brilliant. Just as good as her Guardians of Eternity series but with a twist of regency times. I thought the story was well written, the plot was great and I love that as the Guardian books did, they all intertwine and I very much enjoyed them. The main characters are right up there with the Guardian books also. Obviously there isn't as much action in them due to the fact they are not set in modern day times but I love that there are still twists and turns and a darker side to the story just like her other books and great character chemistry. They will sit on my bookshelf for certain as all 3 of these Immortal Rogue books will be read again for sure.

Oh dear! not only is this a reprint from 2004 from a romance series it is quite a dismal reprint. The story is Ok if you've not read anything about Regency England - no, I tell a lie, the story isn't Ok. It is very slow, very dull and not what I expect from Alexandra Ivy. I presume this was written early in her writing career when a lot of authors started out by writing romances and that's perfectly OK. Unfortunately to republish it when the author's style has changed, the genre in which she writes has changed and the expectations of her readers are for good witty stories about sex and vampires but they are sold a dull stilted tale about a very unsexy vampire (what a wimp!)it feels like a cheat and doesn't do the author justice. It doesn't help when words aren't quite right either - in England the word momentarily means for a moment and not in a moment, so when drippy Gideon said 'I will be with you momentarily' it made no sense and after that I couldn't really be bothered.
I'm sorry I bought it, and I won't be buying the other two - I'm going back to read the Alexandra Ivy books I do like - the ones with tall, witty vampires with a good story and lots of sex.

Good light read a pleasant way to pass a couple of hours. The story of Gideon an "honourable" vampire protecting Simone lady with secrets was a good start to the series It hopefully will become a more rounded story and I hope the next books intertwine characters as I feel there is much more that could happen. That said I enjoyed the book immensely.

I normally really enjoy Alexandra Ivy's books however this one is a dud. The research is sloppy, Regency London society simply bears no relation to that portrayed in this book and the characterisation was awful too. I got about half way through the book and realised it wasn't going to improve and it was a real struggle to finish it.
