I bought this DVD a little while ago, when I was in a nostalgic phase - I wish I hadn't bothered.
While the original My Little Pony cartoons were really sweet and fun, My Little Pony Tales are cringeworthy. Here, they take everything that was really great about the first two series, and remove it. No Nancy Cartwright, no Sweet Stuff, no Spike, no baby ponies - not even Wind Whistler. On top of that, they seem to have chosen to turn the ponies into human-esque characters, who walk on their hind legs, wear 'modern' clothes and worry about homework and boyfriends. Yuck. The storylines centre around a different pony or event each episode, such as "Bon Bon's Diary." The moral of the story in this particular episode is 'reading people's diaries/cheating is wrong', but the way in which it's put across is just so horrendously clichéd, it makes you want to switch off after the first three minutes.
Besides looking horrendously dated with the fashions, the characters are annoying stereotypes - they don't even begin to compare to Posey, Gusty, Firefly et al. The DVD has no extra features (although given how rubbish the episodes are, I'm not sure whether that's a curse or a blessing...)
If you want some proper MLP, I suggest you find a copy of "Rescue At Midnight Castle" or the My Little Pony Movie, not this abomination.
