I fell in love with Chelsea's quirky humour after I got her "Are you there vodka? It's me, Chelsea", which I read within a couple of days. I immediately ordered two other books by her, anticipating hours of hilarity. I took "My horizontal life" on board of the plane, thinking that I will indulge in it during my 7-hour flight. But this book proved just a tiny bit boring at times. Don't get me wrong, it is still good with laugh out loud moments, but it is Miss Handler's first published work and something is definitely missing (but she definitely got the missing part it in her subsequent books!) Some people here wrote that you can either love this book or hate it. I did not hate it, because you just cannot hate Chelsea's stories documenting her hilarious dating life and experiments with men, and for the first book, it's a fun little read. Surely, some people might find it a bit offensive, and if you do, there is a prude inside of you somewhere! Chelsea is never evil, which is what I really like about her. She is blatantly honest, somewhat rude, and very amusing. This is no Booker-prize winner, but an amusing little read. If you like how Chelsea's mind works, and/or one-night stand is something you've experienced yourself, this is a must have for you. Oh to hell with it, even if you've never had the notoriety to have one [one-night stand], get "My Horizontal Life" and live through a couple without actually meeting some of the weirdos that inhabit the bars nowadays.
((But for the great holiday read, I cannot recommend enough her second book.))
