Product Description

From the Back Cover

A story about a man with a BIG dream Funny man Billy Crystal (Analyse This) stars as a second-rate talent agent who is more devoted to his climb to the top than to his wife Serena and his son. When his wife takes him to Romania, Sammy discovers by accident Max (Gheorghe Muresan), a Shakespeare quoting 7'7" giant who lives in a monastery. Sensing that he may have found his ticket out of mediocrity, Sammy convinces Max to come back to America, promising to make him a "giant" movie star and reunite him with his long lost love Lillianna. From, New York to New Mexico, and finally to Las Vegas, this unlikely duo embark upon a comical crusade to fulfil their dreams. Along the way they experience the most unexpected transformations of the heart. Fairytales are like that sometimes. Look out for a special cameo performance from Steven Seagal!

This film was Billy Crystal's tribute to Andre The Giant, his co-star in "The Princess Bride" and former WWE Legend.

This film does not focus on Andre directly, but on a character based on him. Crystal plays an agent stuck in Romania, who happens across a "Giant" who loves his simple life, but dreams of stardom. Of course there are pitfalls along the road and a measure of pathos for The Giant...

Overall this is an uplifitng film, just as was the life of the man who inspired it...

Awesome. 21 May 2004
Format:VHS Tape
Hilarious beyond belief. My giant is so tall you can't help but laugh at him. The guy has real talent. My mate said he saw him in real life in Cornwall and he's twice as tall as he looks on screen. He's probably about 9ft by my estimations. I haven't seen 'my giant' in any other films which is a tragedy since this guy can act.

Steven Siegal makes a cameo in this film which sent me into an ecstasy of excitement. Awesome. Also mini-me has a cameo in a scene where loads of midgets fight the giant. Good old fashioned entertainment. Disappointingly 'My giant' calls the fight off because somebody calls him a freak. I was pretty disappointed when the giant didn't continue fighting but he does beat somebody up later, which is some consolation I suppose. The midget fight was better though.

Unfortunately like a lot of masterpieces this film is flawed. Firstly there are some sentimental moments. BORING!!!. Also Billy
Crystal is in the film. His acting looks embarrassingly incompetent next to 'my giant' and he's not funny. Also his son insults Steven Siegal over the phone, which I found distressing and unforgivable. A lot of the times Billy Crystal has more lines than my giant which is ludacris. The film is called 'My GIANT' not 'My little curly-haired annoying not-funny disgrace of a man'. This film would be a lot better if Billy Crystal wasn't in it and maybe Steven Siegal had a bigger role.

Underrated comedy-drama 2 Aug 2000
By Thomas D. Harrington - Published on Amazon.com
I think this movie suffered from a misleading ad campaign which made it look like a slapstick comedy. It's not.

It's adult comedy-drama, and a pretty good one. Crystal, the ultimate cynic, slowly becomes best friends with his giant, the ultimate innocent. And there are actually a fair amount of laughs along the way.

It helps to know that this picture was inspired by the late Andre the Giant, who worked with Crystal on "The Princess Bride." Giants' lives are never easy, and that's why this picture has to be serious as well as fun.

I have the feeling this picture may play better on video. If you like funny-sad pictures, check it out.

After reading the reviews, I had to respond. I really enjoyed this movie. A lot of people seem to be missing the entire point of the movie (as well as the storyline). Apparently a movie with Billy Crystal must be all hilarity and no poignancy for people to enjoy it.

Maybe advertising is to blame, but I was lucky enough to not hear much about it when it was released. With no expectations in mind, I thought the movie was great -- and Billy Crystal does a decent job taking on a dramatic role. Muresan does surprisingly well with his role as well, concidering the horrible screen talents of other famous-sports-players-put-in-movie types. I would recommend this to anyone...as long as they don't expect Crystal in a stand-up-comedic routine.

Excellent! 1 July 2000

My Giant is very funny! Billy Crystal is his usual self in this movie. The same comic personality like in all the rest of his movies. This is a wonderful movie. It also has drama. Very few movies possess the qualitites of making you laugh and cry, and making it work. This does though. If you are a Billy Crystal fan, you will love this!
