While these cards can be used to teach younger children how to play snap, I actually wanted some flash cards to help my toddler (2) to learn all the basic shapes.
This pack was exactly what we needed and a few months later she can recognise and say every one which includes:
Star
Cross
Oval
Circle
Rectangle
Pentagon
Diamond
Triangle
Crescent
Square
You could also use these cards to teach colours as the shapes are all big and brightly coloured.
The cards are about the normal size and thickness of standard playing cards which is fine if your child is past the paper tearing phase but they can still be bent with rough play.
A nice addition is that the pack also encloses ideas on how to play both snap and pairs and, now my daughter knows her shapes, we're now learning how to play snap with these. So a brilliant little set which I think will last for a long time to come.

I bought these toys for the educational value for my 22 month girl. We already have animal picture ones which are a little too difficult to distinguish when playing. These cards are bold and bright. The card is smooth and durable. A definate for shape recognition. My 3 1/2 year old can play snap with them easily.
