5.0 out of 5 stars A gorgeous gift 24 April 2010
Format:Hardcover
I bought this as a gift for my Mum. It's a gorgeous book. It looks nice, feels nice and was a great gift. It's true the content is not so much, there's (almost) a page of very large writing per dress but it's the kind of book that you'd keep picking up - a coffee table book. Mum's both a shopaholic and interested in fashion design so she was interested in this book from both points of view. It's even inspired her to start drawing up her own designs again! I would definately recommend this as a gift or a fabulous treat for yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars A feast for the eyes 23 Mar 2010
Format:Hardcover
A beautiful book both in its content and its appearance. I found it an incredibly interesting opportunity to get a small glimpse into the minds of the designers. Whilst the designers continually design hundreds of beautiful dresses each season, there is always one that stands out in their minds which continues to inspire them. A truly gorgeous book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Definition of favourite? 10 Jan 2013
By KW
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I expected it to be full of beautiful dresses but of course in retrospect I realise people have favourites for all sorts of reasons, not necessarily all of them exciting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Huge book, disappointing inside 30 Jun 2012
Format:Hardcover
This book is large and very heavy. But most of the space is wasted. For each dress there are 4 pages - one has just the name of the designer/owner who chose it, one has their photo, the next has some text about why it's their favourite and finally the fourth page is a picture or drawing of the dress. I don't know who this book is meant to appeal to. It's not detailed enough for someone studying fashion design/history and the photos aren't good enough quality to see the construction or design in detail. It doesn't have enough text about each dress to appeal to a general reader either. Most of the dresses are designer catwalk pieces rather anything someone would wear in normal life. It is linked to an exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum in London in 2009 so I suppose its main purpose is as a reminder catalogue for visitors who were at the exhibition and saw the dresses 'in the flesh'.
