Product Description

As it turns out, challenges can often reveal the greatest opportunities.

Ada Lee was perfectly content just being herself. Yes, was – then her boyfriend David suddenly got sick of her and broke off their relationship. To make things worse, the break-up was anything but graceful. Poor Ada overheard David trashing her to a “frenemy”, saying she had put on weight, become socially awkward, and was all-in-all incompetent at life. Ouch!

What band-aid could possibly heal this ailing heart? Ada's friends think they have the magic cure and quickly swoop into action to help Ada patch her broken spirit with a beautiful exterior. Ada's new makeover boosts her confidence to new heights as her friends encourage her to focus on the superficial and lose weight, dabble in make-up, obtain a new fashion sense (or get one, period), and touch up her social skills.

Ada's new look turns heads and brings in all the attention she could ever want. So why does Ada feel strangely empty? Sometimes the most obvious things are the most difficult to see, and Ada may miss an important opportunity right under her nose. As she finds out, her new glitz and glamor have blinded her, and she is about to miss life-changing opportunities and hurt those she loves. Will she be able to get back to what really matters and fix things before it is too late?

Author Rebecca Moisio explores self discovery and what is really important in “My Fairy Godmother Must Be on a Strike”. Her highly-rated first novels are enjoyed by readers looking for fresh characters and entertaining plot twists. Be sure not to “pull an Ada”! Don't miss the opportunity to read Moisio's enthralling “Death at Penrose Hill” and “The Runner”.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant 6 Aug 2013
By Michael Finlayson TOP 1000 REVIEWER

A brilliantly written book about friendship, love, heartbreak, hope and life. I didn't know what to expect once I had started, but once I'd started I had to finish. Inside you will find a plot and characters that you can empathise with. This story isn't something that you read, it's something that carries you along. I highly recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky but short 3 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was too short a read, I was enjoying it when it ended, but I guess if it had gone further it would have lost its edge, as it is there was a beginning, a middle and an end.

Ada gets dumped at the beginning of the book by a guy who doesn't deserve her, riddled with image issues and a lack of self belief she turns to her friends for a makeover, with some funny results. I think some of the scenes could have had more to them such as the waxing scene, the author clearly can write humour and could have expanded on several chapters which would have made it a longer and slightly more satisfying read.

I think that Ada is a character that could and should appear in another book, there's certainly more of her story to tell, especially if the author pursues Ada's plan, as she's funny, quirky and we always love to see the underdog do well.

If you're after a very quick read, like chick-lit then this is the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfort Food for the Soul 11 Aug 2013
By V. Ardito - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A fun, witty story with lots of great characters to cheer for. The plot is familiar, but comfortable. After a traumatic injury at work, Ada has fallen into some bad habits. But when she overhears her boyfriend's callous comments about her lack of social skills and how she's let herself go, she decides to reinvent herself to make him jealous. The story line is predictable, yet still enjoyable. It's the characters and humor that make this a true winner!

The story may be classic or common, but the way it was written makes all the difference. From the very beginning, I instantly grew fond of Ada Lee and loved even the other characters.

A light and easy read, this book is great for those who want to relax while reading a nice, romantic book with a humorous tone. The experience is just like watching a feel-good movie.
