Book Description

2 July 2003 Sonnet Books
Weaving a spellbinding paranormal tale, Tracy Fobes seals her reputation as an innovative star of distinctive and intriguing romantic novels to treasure. "My Enchanted Enemy" Posing as a gypsy bride, Juliana St. Germaine vows to wed Cole Strangford, the sole heir to the gypsy clan that cursed her family in centuries past. Marrying Cole and bearing his child would at last break a dark spell cast amid the moonlight and salt spray of the English coast. The task at hand is a trick of mistaken identity to seduce Cole and win his hand. Cole is more consumed with locating a legendary gem and turning the tide on his family's ill luck than with thoughts of marriage. His uncle's urgent matchmaking had left him cold -- until he meets the newest candidate: a beautiful widow with haunting, captivating eyes. Now, the power of love can change the course of their entwined destinies. And though Juliana's mission may succeed, she realizes -- too late -- that she has lost her heart to the one man she should call her enemy.

5.0 out of 5 stars enchanting Regency romantic fantasy 14 Mar 2002
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In 1810 Shoreham, England, Cole Strangford works on a diving suit that will enable him to breath underwater when his Uncle Gillie interrupts his work with unwanted news. The father of Juliana St. Germaine looks favorably on a marriage match between his daughter and Cole. The duo are arriving today, which means Cole's race to complete his invention before William James is in jeopardy.

Cole does not want to marry anyone, as he prefers searching for the lost Sea Opal, but knows he is obligated to sire a Romany heir for the good of his people. Joanna does not want to marry anyone either, but knows she is obligated to find a way to remove the family curse that makes them sea people. When they meet sparks fly and love enters the relationship. However, he obsesses on finding the gem that means good fortune for his family while she must betray his love to lift the curse.

This enchanting Regency romantic fantasy charms the audience from start to finish due to the strong cast that makes readers believe in the unreal. The story line is fabulous due to the lead protagonists. Joanna struggles not to fall in love, which would mean failure to accomplish her task; Cole battles obligations with his feelings for his prospective bride. With a powerful support cast propelling the action-packed plot forward, readers will delight in MY ENCHANTED ENEMY while seeking previous and future works from Tracy Fobes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very charming book - 1st read by Fobes 3 July 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I really enjoyed this book. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 star in my book was that she didn't really allow you to see either couple getting to know each other and falling in love. I can only recall 2 segments for each couple, otherwise she wrote that weeks went by and that the couples were getting alon and then bam both couples were in love. I didn't feel like I have a major interest in whether the couples stayed together or not. I did find the book a charming read though. But not at all romantic.
