Book Description

This book tells the story of a hurting family, an amazing little girl and a mysteriously faithful God.

Emily wasn't born perfect - so one might think.

She was born with Down Syndrome and many would jump to the conclusion that she would have very little hope for a life with any significance. Two years later came the diagnosis of leukemia. What little hope remaining turned to no hope whatsoever - or so one might think.

The life of this little girl, with all its perceived imperfections, had great meaning. Her loving nature and courage touched the hearts of everyone she met. She also taught them how to value their own lives - even with their many "imperfections."

Note: A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will help families with special needs children, those who are battling pediatric cancers, as well as parents grieving the loss of a little one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should read this ! 10 Sept. 2012
By Milly
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this some time ago, and have been so wrapped up in what I thought were hurdles I needed to jump in my own life that I hadn't gotten around to reading it - in truth, I didn't fully understand what was patiently waiting behind this cover on my iPad all this time, and boy! what a mistake. This book is so powerful and profoundly moving that I am convinced there will not be a single person on this planet whose heart would not be touched or strings plucked by the lovely and brave Emily and the glorious love surrounding her.

Emily's story is a gift to readers because it will make you consider and appreciate your own life and run to HUG the people you share it with, be it children, parents, partners, friends or pets... Every page is proof that there are so many good and warm hearts in the world and that love is genuinely... endless and priceless.

If you, like me, are a person who gets hooked on the small bumps and grinders in life and haven't truly yet paused to realise that being alive is actually a gift and privilege, then please read this. It is indeed a sad, heart-aching story that no child, parent or anyone for that matter should have to endure...

5.0 out of 5 stars Triumphant & Inspirational 1 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
After reading the book description for My Emily, I expected a deeply moving story. I was not disappointed. This book tells the poignant tale of a very special little girl from her father's point of view. It goes without saying that sadness is an element that one will encounter in the story, but more importantly there is the overwhelming presence of triumph and healing. I applaud this father for having the courage to share his story and to give the gift of Emily to the world. Her joyous and loving spirit can be felt radiating from every page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very emotional but inspiring 13 Jun. 2013
By J. Rose
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I cannot begin to understand how it feels to be told that your child is a Downs Syndrome baby but then having coped with that to then find that she has Leukemia - how much more can this family take? It is a very short book but yes, it had me in tears and I defy anyone to read it and not feel the raw emotions that these parents went through. I would even let my 10 year old granddaughter read this book, it is educational and an inspiration to all parents who face this rocky road.
