Granted it's only April, but I don't feel at all hasty in thinking this will be my favourite book of the year. I never feel compelled to write a review on Amazon - but waxing lyrical about this one to friends and family, I thought why not. First off, this book is very funny: delicately, cleverly, laugh-out-loudly. Maggie Gee has an eye, and each and every page is rich with images and insights that have stayed with me since finishing My Driver. High art, that makes you laugh, and cry: what more can you ask from a novel?
