Pope Francis gives new hope that the spirit of Vatican 2 will be re-established in the church. This lively book underlines his tendency to answer clearly and directly to questions that he has long since pondered. The outlines and implications of his Jesuit training and experience are well illustrated.
This is essential reading for those interested in or excited by the project of Francis' papacy.

Rather disappointed as it is not, in fact, Pope Francis writing but the re-workings of interviews with a journalist. I found it repetitive at times as if the writer had not properly checked through his notes. Pope Francis comes through as a warm and caring person but I did not learn as much about him as theologian and pope as I had expected.Warmth and intelligence does, however, shine through.

Pope Francis is giving us a vision of what the Church is and what we should be doing. Pity is that we are inclined to hero-worship him and create a cult of personality, the last thing he wants and the last thing that the Church needs. Lets listen to him deeply and act on what he says.
