Book Description

She does not know who I am yet. That is fine. A lady in her position, riding high with her music career, would have no reason to know me. Not yet at least. That is all to change though. I will edge my way into her life, I will make her realise that I am the one she is supposed to be with. I can picture it now, she will see my videos dedicated to her on my YouTube channel and she will drop every thing to come for me. We will be the perfect couple. Far better than her current boyfriend - the abusive imbecile failing in his own music career if you can call it that. Someone needs to do something about him before he further tarnishes the reputation and career of my love, my Sindy Cole.

More About the Author

MATT SHAW is the published author of over 50 stories. Although known as being a horror author, he also enjoys spending time in other genres too - something he had always planned to do in order to have at least one book, in a wide collection, which would appeal to people from all walks of life. Shaw was first published in 2004 with his horror novel Happy Ever After - the first of his books to reach the number one slot on Amazon and the first of his books to use his trademark style of narrating the stories through the first person perspective. An extremely prolific writer, Matt Shaw is continually writing as well as keeping up to date with his readers via his (some might say) crazy Author Page on Facebook.

Once Published weekly in a lad's magazine with his photography work, Matt Shaw is also a published author and cartoonist. More recently he is known for turning his stories into films.

3.0 out of 5 stars Something to pass the time 25 Aug. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My Deadly Obsession is a short story by Matt Shaw. It outlines the dangers in the media coverage that celebrities now receive and one man’s struggle with an Obsession this media coverage is feeding.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed in this book, there are a few reasons for this but the main thing for me is that I was expecting something just a little more gritty and unnerving. I expected this one to be a bit stronger than it is, but that’s just me. I guess I just didn’t feel like anything really happened in it.

I can’t really talk about the rest of the book without ruining it for any who want to read it, but I can say this, personally I felt that the end of the story was a bit of a let down. I’d be interested to see what other people’s reaction to it is though and whether it’s just me.

All in all it’s a simple, short story which will help you pass some time on. I’m happy I read it because I’ve been meaning to try out some of Mr Shaw’s work for a while.

I’ll be reading more of his books because I want to see what I’ve heard about and see just how gritty it gets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner from Matt Shaw. 12 Dec. 2014

Format:Kindle Edition
My Deadly Obsession is a first-person story of a man who falls hopelessly in love with a singer he will never be with. He decided to get her attention by making a series of YouTube videos and because the narrative is in first-person, we get to really see what's going on in his head. He gets angry when Sindy doesn't pay attention to him and thinks she's talking to him via Twitter, when we know she's not. The story is intriguing and short enough to get through in one sitting.

I love this story. It's great for people who like horror but try to stay away from dark, gory stories. It's disturbing, but not too disturbing, and at 99 cents, it's one you shouldn't miss.
4.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Story from Matt Shaw 14 Aug. 2014

This is a different type of horror story than Matt Shaw usually gives us. It's unique in that it combines 'Lost Film Footage' genre we usually only see in horror movies with the inner monologues of the main character. We see what he records and we see what's going on in his head. Using this format, Matt gives us a clear picture of who the narrator is.

The story centers around a man obsessed with a pop star. He's uploading videos to youtube, hence the 'Lost Film Footage' genre. The story progresses to a shocking finale that I didn't see coming when I first opened the book. It's a short story but it was the perfect length.
4.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite 13 Aug. 2014

I have read everything by Matt Shaw and have never been disappointed. This one is not one of my favorites. It will not deter me from reading anything and everything he creates. I imagine his mind never stops! He never ceases to amaze me with his talent. This was too tame from what I have come to expect. Almost as a hurry up and get it done. BUT I look forward to.the next one and I'm not sorry I read it! I am giving it a 4 because I think he's freaking awesome anyway!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Nowadays we are so flooded with so many images and so much information about celebrities that we feel like we know them 12 Aug. 2014

First of all his is not your typical Matt Shaw story. This isn't horror. It's not gory. It is a very real story. It's about stalking and obsession. Nowadays we are so flooded with so many images and so much information about celebrities that we feel like we know them. The boy in this story just wants so badly to feel loved. Even his parents don't seem to care. I couldn't help but feel sad for him. It was a great, short read.

Matt Shaw continues to put out unrivaled fiction with a disturbing and frightening twist . This story of an obsessed fan told through a first person narrative puts us in the mind of the truly disturbed, and tugs at our psyche as we realize how similar we are....
A great author who eschews conventional thought and is not afraid to delve into our dark sides!

Most excellent horror by Matt Shaw! Absolutely one of my favorite authors of all time, full of twists and turns surprises and ghastly situations from a dark nightmarish place!
