I just love it! 29 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A typically frank account of the story so far, from the little man with the massive heart.

Some wonderful gems in there. I for one didn't realise that what made Keegan accept the England job, was when as manager of Fulham who were at Old Trafford for an FA Cup tie, the generous chanting of the much-maligned Manchester United fans who sang "Keegan for England" throughout.

An enjoyable read, but Newcastle fans should equip themselves with a box of hankies before reading the story of the 1995/96 season.

As a Newcastle supporter I found this book very interesting, as the periods when Keegan played for and managed our club were among the most exciting in recent history. There was a buzz around the area and Newcastle could "live" with the big boys of the premiership, leading the way in 1995/96 only for the eventual disappointment of losing out to Man United for the title. But we were the entertainers under his management and his passion for the club and the fans was never in doubt at that time. He eventually "walked" of course (three times from Newcastle!) because he couldn't have things exactly as he wanted.
What made me stop reading this book well before the end though, is Kevin's frequent references to money, which although perhaps not branding him as a mercenary, show that he has always been able to look after the money side of the game, especially KK's personal situation! He's certainly not alone there, of course, as money rules the game, but to read pound signs on just about every page is a bit too much.

Easy to read fun book 19 Dec 2011
By B. Lane
Format:Paperback
Read this in a few easy sittings and found it fun. Put it down and forgot most of it but its enlightening. It shows that KK is a great motivator but once his motivation is gone then its game over!
