Mute Math - who are they? Well there's a funny story how I got into them. Basically it started when a friend of mine (lets called him Sid) - who likes alternative music - was raving on about it. His friend (Paul - not real name) - got into it as will. Sid's girlfriend (Deirdre) - not real name, then got into them and then some other friends of mine saw them live and basically ALL my friends like them - and I've never even heard of them.

One day I was chatting to Paul - and he said 'have you heard Mute Math?' I said - I'm not joining the Mute Math club okay. I'm not jumping on a band wagon. I like to be individual with my music and listen to what I want to listen to, not to be forced to listen to stuff that other people are listening to. I am no sheep!'

He said 'Shut up - stop whining and listen to it, Give it a chance.'

So reluctantly I took it home, grumbling to myself. I heard the first song - thought - yeah okay, heard the second- thought 'mmmmm', and by the third i thought 'Oh dear'. And I listened to the end. Sighed. Listened to it again. Then I listenend to it again. Then I played it in the car. then I played it at home. And it's been two months since I've borrowed it, and i;m still listening to it - and I've now got my own copy.

Oh dear - I'm afraid to say, I think this is one of the best albums of the year. The musicianship is amazing. The drummer is SO mad. They are marvellous!!! And there's a live CD floating about which is really difficult to get now BUT I love them so much that I'm seeing them in concert in February. What am I doing? I might buy a t-shirt next. I can't believe it. i like Mute Math. I like Mute Math. I like Math Math.

Baa!!!

P.S. Give it a go. Go on. It is blooming amazing!!! It really is!

This album is quite simply, a work a of art and utter genius.

I came across them in NYC in 2005 and started listening to Reset EP.Since then i have been telling everyone i know about Mutemath.

After Reset i was hooked; and counting the days until they released this album.

It is my favourite album and i listent to bits of it every week and never tire of its orginality. It is stunningly complex and beautiful.

And if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing them live, you really must as they are indescribable; musicianship at its electrifying best.

If you haven't heard of these guys, then its time to wake up!

I first discovered Mutemath after hearing 'Spotlight' on the Twilight soundtrack album. I then downloaded 'Chaos' and 'Typical' as I wanted to hear more from the band. The reviews on Amazon seemed pretty good and on the basis of the songs I'd already heard and enjoyed, I decided I would try the album. It took me a couple of listens to decide how much I liked the album however, certain songs began to stand out. I particularly love 'You are Mine' - such a gentle sounding song with a beautiful melody to it. 'Noticed' and 'Picture' are both great catchy tunes you can sing along to. I already knew I liked 'Chaos' and 'Typical' (the video for 'Typical' is pretty cool too if you get a chance to check it out) and having listened to the album quite a lot now, there aren't any songs I feel the need to skip over although I'd agree with other reviews that some are not as strong as others. I love the lead singer's voice - it bears a resemblance to Sting at times - and the drum beats and rhythms seem to be in a league of their own on some of the songs. On the whole, it's a great album with some cracking tunes and I would definitely recommend that you give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

I've been into mutemath for a few years now, and did wonder whether this album would ever be released. Thankfully it was, and it is really rather good. I don't think it's as consistently good as their Reset EP, but it has enough creativity and good songs to be a worthwhile release. Chaos is a bit of a classic, Picture is great, and Break the same is absolutely brilliant (though it's a shame they cut some of it on the re-released album).

I don't think realistically the album could of ever lived up to my hopes for it after Reset, and a review I read somewhere sums it up when it says something like 'you just wish they'd push their experimental side a bit more'. They are a talented and original band, and it's a great first album, it would just be nice to hear a bit more of their odd creativity in evidence next time round.

The other thing to say is that mute math are genuinely incredible live, and that's really where you want to hear them, not trapped on a very good CD.

I just love every song on this album. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I love the distinctive sound of the lead vocalist. Each song is sing-along.
