Product Description

Product Description

Mr McGreevy's Must Try Harder is a side-splitting collection of the most earnest and mangled attempts at the English language made by generations of schoolchildren. From the historical - 'Rome was overthrown by invasions of the Huns, Visigoths and Osteopaths' - to the religious - 'Solomon had 300 wives and 700 cucumbers'; the R-rated - 'As he walked through the room he heard the sound of heavy breeding' - to the unintentionally profound - 'Matrimony is a place where souls suffer for time on account of their sins' - under Mr McGreevy's tutelage nothing is safe, or sacred. Be they funny, irreverent or just plain silly, Mr McGreevy's Must Try Harder is guaranteed to have you weeping with laughter. But be warned: don't read too many in one sitting, you may just do yourself a permanent injury.

About the Author

Norman McGreevy was brought up and educated in Glasgow and now lives quietly in Melbourne with his wife and a small menagerie. For the past ten years, Norman has worked with universities, corporations and government agencies, writing, designing and delivering information technology training and communication for groups of often bewildered executives. He now tries to combine his passion for information technology and (correct!) communication with his passion for relaxation and walking, so far with limited success.

Very amusing 13 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Packed full of hilarious school boy errors and down right ridiculous guesses made by pupils who weren't thinking straight or plainly didn't know the answers. It brings about a chuckle from every page.

Disappointing 13 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
I suggest potential purchasers 'Look Inside' first and not rely on glowing reviews - I didn't look and was disapponted to find, despite one review saying the book was 'packed full', that the font is so large there are only 2 or 3 examples on each page - not my idea of 'packed full', more like padded out. If i'd looked inside rather than relying on the 'packed full' description, I wouldn't have bought it.

Very funny Book 30 Jan 2010
By Becki
Format:Paperback
These are not only funny, but some of them are clever too. It really highlights the intelligence some of the kids have, as well as accidental mispellings which make you laugh and feel sorry for the child who wrote them. And the stupidity which will also give you a good chuckle
